XOOM Energy’s Mission to Help End Pet Homelessness Continued in 2020

The year 2020 was difficult and challenging for many including pets in need of assistance and forever homes, but we have good news to report! XOOM Energy through our continued partnership with PetSmart Charities® and our RescueLock 12 customers assistance contributed over $157,000 to PetSmart Charities in 2020.

The 5% of RescueLock customers’ monthly energy charges that were contributed helped support PetSmart Charities to provide funding to nonprofit organizations aligned with PetSmart Charities’ mission: to find lifelong, loving homes for pets by supporting programs that bring people and pets together.

An estimated 6 million pets enter shelters every year, while nearly 3 million never find a forever home. PetSmart Charities has helped more than 9 million pets find a home to date. That’s 2 out of every 10 pet adoptions in North America. 

Each donation made to PetSmart Charities helps fund initiatives such as adoptions at PetSmart stores and other locations, rescue programs, spay and neuter surgeries, emergency relief, and service animal and pet therapy training programs. PetSmart Charities efficiently uses more than 90 cents of every dollar donated to fulfill its role as the leading funder of animal welfare in North America, granting more than $390 million since its inception in 1994.  This has helped PetSmart Charities earn the Four-Star Rating from Charity Navigator for the past 16 years in a row.
